About Me

I have spent the last 5 years of my life introducing myself as “hello, my name is Yasin Ansari” and generally in the first few moments there’s the “I was born in Kenya”. Being part of my heritage in some way it reminds me of who I am, where I am from and the journey’s I have traveled in this mystery we call life. It was a few years ago that I moved to South Africa with the hope of continuing to develop my greatest passion, the Internet.

Growing up as an asian / african in Nairobi, Kenya was great. Though to be very honest I hardly noticed the difference of skin color until I came to SA. Don’t get me wrong, this in no way suggests that today’s South Africa still harbours its  horrid past  in the midst of  an ever changing, dynamic culture. Its just tthat having had to deal with that kind of injustice, no man is left unscarred and the stigma will naturally resonate for sometime. But I assure you, look with a bit less prejudice, learn a bit of Zulu / Xhosa and you will be shocked at how welcoming, embracing and kind South Africans are that’s putting aside the kind of infrastructure and opportunities that South Africa is proudly known for in an African contecxt.

As much as Kenya provided me with a home for a large part of my, at the age of 21 with some help from my dad, I packed my bags and headed off to India for “6 months (story to follow)” to study web. I came back 2 years later did some work in Kenya and then headed off to South Africa to indulge myself in the world of online marketing.

It has been 7 years and I am still here, now married with a little boy (the reason for my existence) & working for e.tv as an inhouse online guy. Its been quite an incredible journey so far and I feel blessed, humbled and incredbly grateful to be doing the one thing I love the most, making the internet work for people.

I do hope you enjoy my blog and I look forward to reading your comments and views.

Kind Regards:
Yasin Ansari
